The Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences at the West University of Timișoara (UVT) was established in 2024 and oversees the following doctoral fields: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Computer Science, and Mathematics. The UVT faculties involved in managing this consortium are the Faculty of Chemistry-Biology-Geography, the Faculty of Physics, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The purpose of founding DSEANS was to bring together human resources (doctoral students and doctoral supervisors) and material resources (UVT research laboratories, notably the UVT Institute for Advanced Environmental Research), thus enabling enhanced interdisciplinary collaboration.
The mission of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences is to provide an organizational and functional framework for doctoral students in the fields mentioned above to carry out excellent scientific research activities and strengthen their position nationally and internationally.
The doctoral school offers its students training programs based on advanced university studies, which include courses, seminars, laboratories, and field-specific activities.
The structures and content of the curricula for each field are approved annually by the DSEANS Council, composed of six doctoral supervisors (representing each doctoral field) and three doctoral students. The postgraduate programs are designed to develop professional competencies (content-related, cognitive, and research) specific to each field and transversal skills.
