Recognition of the
Doctoral Supervisor Status at IOSUD-UVT
What is this methodology?
It is a set of rules through which the West University of Timișoara (UVT) recognizes the status of doctoral supervisor obtained at accredited universities abroad.
Who can benefit?
Romanian or foreign citizens who have obtained habilitation at an accredited university from:
- The European Union (EU)
- The European Economic Area (EEA) The European Economic Area (EEA)
- The Swiss Confederation
- Other prestigious universities, according to the list of the Ministry of Education
What documents are required?
The file must be submitted to the Doctoral Studies Office of UVT and should include:
- Recognition request (standard form – Annex 1)
- Copy of identity document + legalized translation (if applicable)
- PhD diploma (copy and/or legalized translation)
- Diploma or certificate attesting the doctoral supervisor status (with legalized translation)
- CV in Romanian or English
- Document authentication:
- Hague Apostille (for countries that are parties to the Convention)
- Superlegalization or certificate of authenticity (for other countries)
How is the file evaluated?
Submission
The application file must be submitted to the UVT Doctoral Studies Office.
Evaluation
The evaluation committee reviews the application within 10 working days.
Decision
UVT issues a decision of recognition or non-recognition.
If the decision is negative, an appeal may be submitted within 2 working days to the General Registry of UVT.
Who conducts the evaluation?
The evaluation committee consists of 5 members:
- The director of the doctoral school
- A member of the doctoral school
- The Chief Secretary of UVT
- A representative of the UVT Doctoral Studies Office
- A representative of the UVT Center for Resources and Documentation
Other important information
- Recognition is valid only within UVT
- If the decision is lost or damaged, a duplicate may be requested for a fee.
- In case of suspicion of false documents, UVT will notify the competent authorities.
